What can one expect to gain out of the Conductive Education Program?
Each participant will be able to take part in an initial consultation, to see how CE would benefit them. Each participant (along with a family member, or helper) meets two conductors on an individual basis. During the one-hour consultation, the conductors will use their time to see the participant’s potential, and create a realistic program with realistic goals, to help the participant to a life with better quality.  After the initial consultation, the conductors write a written report including the observations and recomendations, on how CE would help. Once the participant recieves this report, he or she can decide whether or not, they would like to take part in the program. The timing of the progress depends on on-site participation, in-home practice and the frequency of both.

Who are behind the Conductive Education Program?
The specialists providing the conductive education programs are called conductors, who have acquired special eudcation and therapy skills through extensive training and work experience in helping people with CP. Conductors are trained to view medical conditions as problems of learning. In practice this means that the focus is on teaching the person ‘how’ to achieve control over movements rather than seeing problems as an inevitable part of the condition. The conductor is trained to plan programmes, observe movements and help people to learn how to increase their level of ability. Each person has the potential to improve from where they are now; the conductor is constantly looking for such opportunities and such potential. The role of the conductor is to use all areas of knowledge during each session, as an integrated approach to helping each participant achieve their goals. The conductors are graduates of the Peto Institute of Hungary, where they undergo a four year program. The Peto Institute is the founding establishment of conductive education, and still today the program with the most extensive educational and training requirements. (The Peto Methodology based conductive education programs outside of Hungary only exist in the UK and to a certain degree in the United States.)  All conductors at our center are professionally qualified and approved to work with children and adults.
